As reported on the Consumer and Product Safety Commission’s website, about 250 aluminum chimeneas sold by Plow & Hearth of Madison VA on its website and through its catalog have been voluntarily recalled due to a design flaw. The flaw can cause the aluminum to catch fire or melt, causing a fire and burn hazard. There have been two reported incidents of the aluminum exterior catching fire and burning, but no reports of injuries or property damage. The chimeneas were manufactured in Turkey and sold between March and August 2007 for $250. Customers who bought the aluminum chimeneas should stop using them immediately and contact Plow & Hearth for a full refund and gift certificate. Plow & Hearth is also contacting customers who purchased the item. For more information, contact the company toll free at (877) 459-8131, or visit their website at www.plowhearth.com.
